A Day at Camp
Our Camp Able program has three main goals:
- To facilitate aquatic activities for individuals with disabilities.
- To use Camp Able as a developmental training site for students of recreational/educational vocations and provide opportunities to youths interested in work experience.
- To create a Camp Able community at Crown Cove Aquatic Center and provide waterfront access to all of San Diego’s citizens.
This aquatics program is unique and popular in the respect that many campers would not be able to experience the pleasures of the bay or beach (swimming in the surf, boogie-boarding, canoeing, sailing and sunning) if it were not for the structured support provided by Camp Able and it’s well-trained, safety conscious staff. Our program has an exemplary safety record as a result of the consistent preservation of a highly-qualified staff which has enabled Camp Able to continuously build an excellent reputation within the community. This is demonstrated by the fact that campers and agencies have chosen to return to Camp year after year.
We provide a daily schedule centered around two activity periods. Campers who are attending a full day participate in a morning activity and an afternoon activity.
- Sailing
- Canoeing
- Ocean Swimming
- Bay Swimming
- Craft
- Nature/Wildlife hikes
Camp Able will make adjustments to the NEEDS of campers for each activity.
