The Exceptional Families Program is a collaboration with Coronado Community Foundation (CCF), Coronado Public Library, Friends of the Coronado Public Library and and other local agencies to provide year-round, no-cost enrichment events for special needs families.
The Exceptional Families Program offers monthly local activities and events for both the caregivers, as well as the special needs family members. The whole family can engage in fun-filled and enriching activities throughout the year.
One father said that they do not get out often as both children have special needs, and his wife has advanced MS. He said, “This event was also very special on its own. We could come as ONE family.” It meant a lot for them to watch the Camp Able staff help their children during the activities. He went on to add, “As I sat there with my wife, I literally had tears on the inside as this life is not easy sometimes but today, I was somewhat spoiled.”
Camp Able at Coronado is actively seeking donations from the community to ensure the Exceptional Families Program can be expanded and sustained.
