After lots of planning members of Camp Able FINALLY made their mark at this years City of Coronado Fourth of July Parade!

With energetic staff and willing campers we joined the line up at 8:00am of the 2013 City of Coronado Fourth of July parade.  Our focus, much like out at camp, was on FUN and our fans.  We decorated our float with red white and blue and ocean waves to keep with our theme of “Summer Camp Fun”.

We used our canoe paddles and our voices to propel ourselves down the entire parade route.  If you were in the stands you probably heard us singing some our favorite camp songs like “Yellow Submarine”.

Before we left we were awarded FIRST place for our theme float!

Better yet, when we reached the end of the route we were awarded with another award, “Best Theme Float” in the entire parade!

Right behind us was our camper of the year Sarah.  Sarah and her family have been coming out to camp for many years.  Sarah loves to come out for boogie-boarding, sailing and most importantly to make new friends. Campers Trevor and Debbie are also camp all-stars and were able to march with us all morning.  A BIG thanks to Sarah, Trevor, Debbie and their FAMILIES for being part of this special event.  We couldn’t have done it without them.

We can’t wait to do it again next year and we are looking forward to adding to our “Fourth of July Crew”. What should we put on our float next year? How should we decorate it? Who should be our camper of the year? Let us know and be sure to “Like” us on Facebook!

Maybe you can join us? We’ll bring the doughnuts!
